NATURE

Here at Happy Journeys, we encourage our children to frequently explore the outdoor environment as it’s vital for their development. It also lays the foundation for a healthy and active life, all while improving their confidence and motor skills.

It’s essential for young children to have free access to outdoor play as an integral part of their time with us. It’s for this reason that at Happy Journeys we operate a monitored free-flow between the inside areas and the outside garden. Each room has their own personal secure garden space to suit the different age groups and development needs, encouraging adventurous play.

We are strong believers, that an outdoor environment opens up opportunities for children to be involved with nature, whilst sparking their imagination and inspiring creativity.

NURTURE

Nurturing is also essential to children’s development, and is a key factor in enabling children to grow physically, mentally, socially, emotionally, culturally, and spiritually. Benefits of this include a more restful sleep, ability to focus and learn, increased self-esteem and confidence.

At Happy Journeys, we do our best to select creative activities on a daily basis that provide each child with the nurturing and challenging environment that they require in order to grow and develop to the best of their ability. We also involve external companies that provide extra-curricular activities including:

CHALLENGE SPORT & EDUCATION

Challenge Sport & Education focus on the important contribution sports make to a childs social and communication skills. It is about bringing joy and supporting their emotional wellbeing.

NOURISH

At Happy Journeys, we believe a wholesome, balanced diet is a vital part of living a healthy lifestyle. We actively teach children about nutrition, by involving them in growing and tasting their own vegetables, through our home-grown garden patch.

With the expertise of a nutritionist, Julia Wolman, Happy Journeys provides a well-balanced menu offering breakfast, lunch and tea with snacks in between.

Whenever possible, we source our quality ingredients locally and organically, including seasonal fruit and veg for our cooked meals that are prepared fresh, on-site, every day.

Meal-times are a happy, relaxed time together where children learn social skills, self-independence, manners, good hygiene practice and healthy eating, all valuable lessons to last them a lifetime.
